Sudan
Children in Sudan face major challenges. The lives and future of children are threatened because of widespread poverty, conflicts and regularly occurring natural disasters. Many live under the threat of violence and are at risk of abuse and exploitation. The most deprived children and families face food and water shortages and lack access to health care, education and other services.
Access to health care, improved livelihoods and protection for vulnerable children
With the support from European Union (ECHO) we have provided life-saving interventions for the most vulnerable population in Darfur and Kordofan regions. We have increased access to health services and nutritional support for children suffering from or at risk of malnutrition.
In North Darfur and South Kordofan we have also responded to the needs of South-Sudanese refugees and host communities. Vulnerable families are supported to meet their most pressing needs without comprising on food security. Actions are also undertaken to increase access to health care and reduce malnutrition among children. Knowledge of and use of safe water, sanitation and hygiene practices is additionally promoted.
Education in emergencies
With the support from the European Union(ECHO) we ensure conflict affected children in Central Darfur a chance to continue their education and learning. The provision of safe, inclusive and quality education help the children rebuild their lives, restore their sense of normality and safety, and provide them with important life skills.
