Länsi-Suomen aluetoimisto

Save the Children’s regional office of Western Finland is located in Tampere. Our work covers Pirkanmaa, Satakunta, Kanta-Häme and the Swedish speaking population in the municipalities along the west coast of Ostrobotnia (see map).

Our main focal points are:

  • Children and their rights and experiences
  • The interaction between children and parents, and support for it.

We recruit and prepare holiday homes, support families and support persons and sport mentors so as to provide children and families with quality support.

In child protection in family care and adoption work our activities are centred on the right of children to safe emotional attachments.  We prepare and support foster families for parenting focused on this.

Our activities include counselling and post-adoption follow-up and support for adoptive parents and parents considering surrendering their children for adoption. We can also provide assessments or consultations by professional social workers on a range of child protection situations.
