The “Eväitä Elämälle” programme
The “Eväitä Elämälle” (Fuel for Life) programme assists children in attending school and pursuing hobbies
Through the Eväitä Elämälle programme Save the Children supports the school attendance and hobbies of children at risk of social exclusion.
This support is directed at children whose scope for continuing to go to school or to participate in leisure activities is jeopardised due to family poverty or other social problems.
The programme promotes the equality, participation and good development. It seeks to make lasting changes at an individual level and in society as a whole.
The programme comprises three sorts of aid, for
- Study materials
- Hobbies
- Mentoring
Already, over 60 of Save the Children’s local associations are running the project in different parts of Finland. The local associations act as rapid support channels in their localities.
Support for study materials and hobbies is intended for children whose post-primary schooling or hobbies are put at risk due to family poverty.
Mentoring encourages and inspires children to be motivated at school and to increase the joy of learning and positive learning experiences with the help of young adults.
